Our aims:
- The promotion and preservation of our local customs and cultural treasures
- The development of the village and its community
- Establishing a community centre
Our fields of activity:
- Organization of tourist programmes, trips, and cultural events
- Improvement of village tourism. Organizing tourism and catering courses for local entrepreneurs
What we are proud of so far:
- The organisation of the Second Village Meeting
- Setting up the so-called Hagyományőrző-szoba (room for preserving our traditions)
- Laying down the foundations for the Library of Homoródkarácsonyfalva
- Providing ten Internet access points
Our programmes planned for 2008:
26 January – traditional carnival marital plays, for children, from 11.am.
26 January – the so-called 7th Carnival basket party (the name “basket” refers to the old tradition of bringing food and drinks to the party in a basket with drama performances
Early in February – the 3rd Snow Festival
February – Carnival “Huckstering” for children
8 March – celebrating Women’s Day
15 March – wreathing, and commemoration of the 1848/1849 Hungarian Revolution and War of Independence
22 March – getting to know the tricks of making Handpainted Easter Eggs
29 March – 3rd Drama Bunny-Ball
April – Excursion
16-28 June – 4th Traditional open field-camping for children6 July - festival on the occasion of the Christian feast day, Mary’s visitation (Roman Catholic Church)
July-August – camp organized for artists, and kaláka festival
September – vintage celebration (the youth of The Dungó Cultural Society)
4 October – 5th Festival of Sweet Chestnut
6 October – wreathing and commemoration (on the occasion of the 13 Hungarian martyrs of Arad executed for treason to the Austrian Empire on 6 October 1849)
29 November – preparing wreaths for the Advent season
5 December – Santa Claus Party for adults
6 December – Santa Claus Party for children
7 December – preparing Christmas-tree decorations
13 December – beliefs, superstitions connected to St. Lucy’s Day, preparing gingerbread
20 December – Christmas fair
From January to April, each Friday from 4-6 p.m., and each Saturday from 11a.m.-1p.m. traditional handicraft workshop (straw weaving, layfigure making, planking, woodcarving, traditional foods, learning folk songs, etc.)
